More art in the streets...
In the local paper (Seattle Times, July 15) is this article on new public art by Shephard Fairey, he of the Obama HOPE poster fame, and a few quotes I particularly enjoyed seeing.
Reman (the site developer) said. “I’m a big arts fan and supporter — visual arts, music — and was thinking about how to use the building, lobby, even the garage as a bit of a resource to present art to the community.”
And elsewhere:
“There is a general understanding that art in a community elevates that community, making it safer, healthier and more fun to live in,” said Sarah Conley Odenkirk, a Los Angeles lawyer specializing in transactional matters related to the arts in the private and public realms.
"The best things about making art ... is meeting all the friendly faces," tombobnyc.
