Weekday Drop By Visit
Hello, there, this November morning! I have bits and pieces to share with you today. Tea or coffee?
The MEOW calendars are being mailed this week. The first ones went out yesterday. There are only a few left. (I know, I know…everybody says that, but it’s true!) If you want one for yourself or as a gift, do visit the shop.
For you Housemates (purchases of last year’s Whose House calendar), your October freebie is a physical product. (Did you think I forgot polka dot month with Yayoi?) They are being included in this year’s calendar orders. If you’re not ordering this year’s calendar, I’ll drop it in the mail to you one day soon.
Here are some of the rest of my 30-day They Draw and Cook/Garden/Travel series. I didn’t do every day, so I don’t know if I got the stick-to-it prize, but I did do two or three for a same-day prompt, so …does that count?
We’ve cancelled our Thanksgiving plans, my holiday decor will be sparse, we’re doing lights-only -no ornaments - on the tree. Feels like a long winter coming up, but we’re all trying to stay out of the dreaded COVID mess. I’m hoping to put a few of my designs on masks. More about this later.
Some other recent musings:
Trader Joe’s cinnamon rolls are noticeably more tasty than Pillsbury’s.
I am enjoying the first in a series of Helene Tursten translated mysteries. Swedish - and other- translated mysteries are my thing. Detective Inspector Huss has just the right attitude and humor for me right now!
“Because Huss, … is an ordinary person with loved ones, her job isn't something she does because she's tough, or glamorous, or obsessed. She's a cop, not a crusader, and she just wants to improve her world a little bit at a time.” from a review of series in January Magazine.
I am also captured by Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit. Now I want to read the book.
I have much to keep me busy during these trying times. Much. Nevertheless, I so miss the scheduled and unscheduled visits to and from neighbors and friends. That said, I’m not sure that we Americans as a country today could pass World War II sacrifice levels. My, we do seem spoiled and self-interested.
You might enjoy the Quarantine Public Library, especially if you like zines and the creative soul. (More below.)
I generally stay away from politics on this arts blog, but we are where we are, like it or not, and this commentary summarizes my current attitude beautifully. (And who wouldn’t love to use the phrase “don’t let the doorknob hit’ cha where the good Lord split’ cha” even once in one’s life?)
Wrigley Field has just been designated a National Historic Landmark today. Just sayin’.
To further ease any stress you feel today, this, below.

These are some pretty interesting one-page booklets. I’m a fan of this format, as you may remember here!
I have begun to download and print some, including the stuffed animal cats one below. Cuz, why not?
